Will maintains lead in WSK Championship after Round 2
08th April 2008
The second round of the WSK International Championship took place at Angerville in France on 5/6 April. Will again made the Super Pole stage through timed qualifying and posted the 7th fastest time giving him grid 5 for both his heats. The heats went well with him finishing second and third to earn him grid 2 for the first final.
The weather was then to play a major part in the outcome of the finals. The field all went to the grid on slicks for the first final but a heavy rain shower made the start perilous and he was out on the first lap following the inevitable contact between several karts. This meant he had to start at the back for the second final which was preceded by a snow storm just before the start and his kart was heavily damaged by another competitor spinning on the warm up lap meaning he was unable to start the race.
So, after a great start to the meeting and earning a front row grid for the finals Will left the event not adding any points to his tally. He has however, maintained his lead in the Championship as the main contenders for the lead in that also met misfortune due to the remarkable weather conditions which made the finals somewhat of a lottery.
The next round is at Lonato in Italy on 10/11 May so we should see more normal European race conditions where Will hopes to again extend his advantage.
